Here in our under two year old room, our teachers provide a warm, loving, caring and nurturing environment to allow our babies to learn and thrive. Our teachers are dedicated and passionate about following respectful practices and providing experiences to support all our babies at different stages in their learning journey. This enables us to meet your babies’ needs, allowing them to reach their next phase of development in their own time.
Ruma Ponga (Under Two's)
Ruma Kahikatea (Over Two's)
Here in our over two year old room, our teachers encourage children to take the next steps in their learning journey and become passionate learners who take responsibility for their own experiences. We aim to provide intentional teaching activities as well as take advantage of those important unplanned learning opportunities that arise both in the classroom as well as outside in the bush. In our uniquely placed centre, our children are empowered and encouraged to go beyond the four walls of a classroom and playground and explore their own interests and strengths, take risks and gain confidence in themselves as learners.
Transition to School
At Nature’s Point, we understand how important the transition to school process is. We provide a focused Transition to School programme for our children who will be heading to school within the next six months. This programme ensures that the children who leave Nature’s Point to go to school have basic skills in order to ensure that the transition into this next importantstage of their learning journey is smooth and successful.
Kirk's Bush Explorers
At Nature’s Point, our unique location allows us to take advantage of the many wonderful learning opportunities that nature provides. We aim to explore Kirk’s Bush with our children as often as possible – rain or shine! The bush provides many learning opportunities – both intentional and accidental – where the children can learn to take risks, overcome fears, make new friends, regulate emotions and create imaginary worlds as well as learn the importance of caring for our natural environment. Our national early childhood education curriculum TeWhāriki encourages an understanding of kaitiakitanga or guardianship by allowing opportunities for children to have the responsibilities of being a kaitiaki by caring for rivers, native forest and birds.
Bringing Nature Indoors
While we aim to get out into the bush as often as we can it might not always be possible to explore the outdoors every day – so we bring nature indoors! With an array of natural and recycled resources for your children to choose from, as well as the treasures collected from our excursions to the bush we can guarantee that your child will be immersed in nature and the environment when they attend Nature’s Point.
