Our beautiful, modern centre is located in a unique setting right next door to Southern Park and Kirk’s Bush. This allows us to take advantage of the wonderful learning opportunities that Papatūānuku has to offer. Our centre not only backs onto these beautiful open spaces, but offers its’ own outdoor environment featuring challenging obstacles for our tamariki to explore. Our brand-new building purpose-built centre features large windows and ranch sliders, allowing the natural sunlight to fill our learning spaces. These large windows and ranch sliders also create indoor-outdoor flow allowing tamariki to move freely between the outdoor environment as well as the calm, warm and inviting indoor environment.

Kirk's Bush Explorers
We want to take advantage of the awesome learning opportunities that nature has to offer, which is why we aim to explore the taonga that is Kirk’s Bush at least once or twice a week – rain or shine! The bush provides many learning opportunities – both intentional and accidental – where the children can learn to take risks, overcome fears, make new friends, regulate emotions and create imaginary worlds as well as learn the importance of caring for Papatūānuku. Our national early childhood education curriculum TeWhāriki encourages an understanding of kaitiakitanga/guardianship by allowing opportunities for children to have the responsibilities of being a kaitiaki by caring for rivers, native forest and birds.
Upon enrollment, you will be asked to sign a permission form which allows your child to go on regular excursions to Kirk’s Bush. These regular excursions are a safe, supervised way for your child to explore our natural environment! There will always be fully trained teachers on these excursions to facilitate a support your child’s learning, as well as a first aid trained staff member.
Again, there are so many benefits of allowing our tamariki to disconnect from the hustle-and-bustle of our lives and spend quality time in nature!
Little Kickers
One of the advantages of our centre being right next door to Southern Park is the chance for us to utilize the football and rugby field. Tamariki will have the opportunity to engage with sports coachsfrom outside organizations who specialise in soccer and rugby as well as other sports.
We believe that during these Little Kickers sessions,tamariki will reap the benefits of outdoor physical sports. These include developing and extending their small and large ball skills; hand-eye coordination; balance; strength; gross motor skills and so much more! There are also many social benefits of these physical sports such as learning to play in a team with friends and sportsmanship. These are life skills that will benefit your child both at Nature’s Pointand in the future when they go on to primary school and beyond.
Varied activities
At Nature’s Point we offer many different engaging activities for our tamariki to take part in. Our outdoor environment offers various hands-on experiences, such as mud puddles; a sandpit; designated carpentry area; climbing obstacles; water play; gardens and much more, boredom at Nature’s Point will never be an issue! Our teachers not only provide structured activities, they also act as facilitators to guide and support children to take the lead and create their own learning experiences. This makes for enjoyable, real learning opportunities that the children actually want to take part in.
Our teachers work hard to ensure that all our activities are in line with tikanga Māori values, and we aim to incorporate te reo Māori in many ways throughout our day here at Nature’s Point.
Delicious meals
At Nature’s Point we provide all delicious, nutritious kai to all our tamariki. This includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. These meals are prepared fresh and cooked on –site by an experienced cook who holds a Food Safety Certificate as part of government requirements. We’re also a nut free centre and promote healthy eating habits. We understand that a nutritious diet is vital for a child’s development; hence we ensure that we guide and teach tamariki about healthy eating habits during meal times. Tamariki love to eat together, so the meal times at a centre are always fun!

Nature’s Point is well equipped with resources that will support your child’s learning in a fun and enjoyable way. With a mixture of beautiful hand-crafted wooden toys; natural and recycled materials; puzzles; a dedicated science area; lots of pukapuka (books); an abundance of small and large construction resources; art and craft supplies; a whānau and dramatic play area and so much more, our tamariki will be provided endless opportunities to learn new skills and extend on those they bring with them to the centre.
